Create a folder, invite your kids to it, and see their work. Include any type of file that you would like to use.
Only those students/teachers that share folder can access the documents
Ex. Recently, 5th Grade students at one school created a class shared map of the 11 Civil War battles in the standard by pairs of students researching 5 facts of each before adding a placemarker with their information. They viewed each others’ placemarkers to read the information.
Create assignments, ask students questions, read their responses, allow them to have class discussion without a sound.
Only your students are in your Google Classroom
Works in all content areas.
Ex. Recently, a 4th grade math teacher gave her students link to an interactive math tool on primes and composites, then uses the “Ask a Question” feature to connect their observations and learning about the 2 kinds of numbers.
NearPod: Turn Your PowerPoint into an Interactive Tool for Students to Use http://www.nearpod.com/
Take a PowerPoint that students just watch and give them the ability to write on it through the web. (No PPTs were harmed in the making of a NearPod presentation.)
Add text response questions directly to the slides
Give them the ability to highlight, underline, and draw directly on the slides
Collect their answers online and in real time.
Ex. A 3rd grade teacher used her PPT about types of reference sources to show not only print, but digital versions while allowing students to make notes directly on the slides and circle key features of each. They ended with a multiple choice quiz embedded in the NearPod presentation. Afterwards, she could see all students work and responses gathered during the lesson.

Teachers use a class blog to post their content, questions, and links.
Students login and read, do, and respond to the teacher’s work.
The Kidblog is private to only kids in that class.
The teacher can post work, she approves, publicly for parents and larger audience.
Ex. A 3rd Grade teacher who posted a short article on Causes of Population Change, then had students click links in the post to more on “extinct”, “endangered”, “threatened”, and “thriving”. Students then replied to her post to show learning.
Teachers post text to their account and insert questions.
Students login and read the article. The article shows only the part before each question so students stay focused.
Responses are captured for teacher review.
Ex. Recently, a 4th Grade teacher added an article to her ActivelyLearn documents and assigned it to the students. It’s focus was to compare and contrast 1st person and 3rd person accounts of a story.
